Here it is! Above is the official logo for the new Rochester, NY based website development company, AppSalon! AppSalon focuses on internet marketing for small businesses. The goals for this logo were to convey modern, web 2.0 style, while still friendly and easy to work with. The goal is to help small businesses grow their markets via the web. Below are some of the other concepts we worked with before arriving at the final logo.

First, we started designing with just type, having the letters convey the idea. The @ symbol is trendy in the internet world, while the arrow suggestions progress and moving forward.

We also tried a conceptual approach, using roots to symbolize the behind-the-scenes help and growth that AppSalon would provide for your business.

It was finally decided to approach the logo in a more literal sense, and emphasize the “salon” portion of the name by utilizing a comfortable, inviting, yet still modern chair.

These chairs were considered, but ultimately, the clients chose the one you saw above for their identity. The simple lines and typeface work to showcase the modern style of the company, and their easy going attitude. The simplicity of the forms make it easy to use in print and online, and the color can be adapted to changing situations and needs.
